what do they know, they know nothing

bugge wesseltoft - existence

people will always think they have you figured out. you're shallow. you're happy. you're fake. you're optimistic so you're stupid. you're sad. you're mean. you're exactly how others want to see you. so that's why you might think you are all alone. and, most of the time, you are.

you are alone when you have to go to the emergency room. friends will be asked to remain outside.
you are alone when you feel that excruciating pain. no one can feel it instead of you, even if they wanted.
you are alone when you think you are alone. this is a sure way of making people go away.
you are alone when you feel you're the only one who gets it. and sometimes you are, sometimes you aren't.
you are all alone with your fears, your struggles, your deepest secrets. they are yours, no one else will bear them.

but you know what? there are also the times, the incredible times, when you are not alone. in fact, we are NEVER alone.

you may think you are alone when you go to the emergency room. but the friends outside will pray for you to get better.
you may think you are alone when you feel that excruciating pain but someone, your father or mother, a sister or someone who truly loves you, would literally want to feel it themselves.
you may think you are alone because you decide you are alone.
you may think you are alone when no one else gets it. but even then, some will stay near you. even when they will think you are wrong.
you may think you are all alone with your fears but truth is, there is no one in this world who doesn't fear something.

we are never alone. sometimes we will feel like we are alone. and yes, often we will have to do things on our own. but on the long run, it's you who decides if you want to convince yourself that you are alone or that you are surrounded by people who care.

you become alone when you decide to point your finger and blame others for your own life. yet it's not their life, it's yours.

I never want to be alone. I choose not to be alone. I embrace those who decided to stay after so many moments when I thought I was alone. like all of us did. I go for the long run.
